SCHOLARSHIPS

The Business and Professional Women's Foundation of Maryland (BPWF/MD) enables women to complete their undergraduate and graduate education so they can achieve career advancement and greater equity in today's work force.

Applications are now being accepted for all scholarships listed below for the 2008-2009 academic year. Completed applications must be postmarked or e-mailed by July 15. Awards will be made during the first week of August 2008.
Only the scholarship recipients will be notified.

NOTE: All scholarships are subject to availability of funds.

The following scholarships are offered for the 2008-2009 academic year:

The Kathryn M. Daugherty Education Scholarship
provides financial assistance to individuals majoring in education, with preference given to elementary education. This is a three-year scholarship providing funds each year for three years. The scholarship is awarded for the student's sophomore year (minimum $1,000) and continues through the student's junior and senior years in college ($250 per year subject to the availability of funds), providing the original criteria continue to be met. A 3.0 or better grade point average must be maintained to remain eligible. See eligibility requirements.

The Barbara Clark Scholarship provides college scholarships in any chosen field of study with the greatest possible flexibility for dedicated students who may not have obtained the academic level usually required for grants. This scholarship is for a minimum of $1,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year. See eligibility requirements.

The Charles County/Margaret Brent BPWs Scholarship provides funds to women who are residents of Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary's Counties to pursue a college education. Applicants may use the funds to attend part time or full time any accredited post seconddary instiution. The scholarship is for a minimum of $1,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
